2016 Woodlands Wilyabrup Valley Chardonnay

Meiron’s Review

A strong elegance with a pronounced nose of apricots, peaches rose petals and butterscotch. The palette mirrors the nose with additional flavours of nectarine and lemon fruits. A lingering finish with a wonderful balance of refreshing acidity.

Colour: Bright yellow

Food Pairing: Tuna, salmon, turkey, chicken, pasta and light cheeses.

2015 Stonier Jimjoca Vineyard Pinot Noir

Meiron’s Review

The Jimjoca Vineyard is located 2km east of the town of Balnarring, and has always been a highly regarded vineyard of Stonier. In 2013, Stonier decided to release a small single bottling of Pinot Noir from this vineyard and have now followed this with the 2015 vintage release, one of the strongest vintages in the history of the region.

Rhubarb, cinnamon, burnt wood, strawberry and blackberry combine to create an uplifting, seductive nose. The palate is embraced with a fruit explosion of cherry, fruit compote, strawberry and olive tapenade with hints of blood orange and well integrated acid.

Colour: Bright red with crimson outline
NoseAttractive lifted red fruits with whole bunch spice and darker cherry, earthy ironstone.
Palate: An assertive presence with lively red fruits, savoury tannins and an earthy brooding nature.
Cellaring: 10 years plus
Food Pairing: Tuna, Salmon, turkey, chicken, duck and light cheeses.

2015 Santolin Willowlake Pinot Noir

Varietal:

100% Pinot Noir

Meiron’s Review

The wine was made with minimal intervention, unfined and hand picked. 15% whole bunch and 85% whole berries left to soak in open pots and then left to ferment naturally in old and new French oak barrels.  The vineyard has a blend of soils with rich red volcanic soils and clay loam. Only 300 cases produced.

The nose presents with a delightful expression of strawberries and cherries with the dance of forest floor elevating the senses.
A vibrant, enticing fruit forward palate with well-integrated acid. An enchanting Pinot that lures you to want more.

Colour: Dark red
NoseThe nose bounces out of the glass in a fragrant multi layered bouquet of juicy fruit, black pepper and violets with a hint of dried apricot.
Palate: Refined and perfumed, medium bodied with lifted sour cherry and wild raspberry. Hints of wood spice, garrigue and integrated oak.

2015 Vinteloper Shiraz

The wine was made with minimal intervention, natural wild yeast and fermented in 100% French oak barrels. Cold temperatures have allowed concentration & depth to develop slowly & evenly.  It won a gold medal at the Adelaide Hills Wine Show.
This is an exceptional wine. The nose is presented with rich plum, dark chocolate, blackberry and pepper. Dark berries, great structure and concentration with integrated gentle tannins make this wine a true gem.

Colour: Dark red
Nose:The nose bounces out of the glass in a fragrant multi layered bouquet of juicy fruit, black pepper and violets with a hint of dried apricot.
Palate:It is pure and poised, integrating medium bodied feel yet full bodied drive and length. The savoury cool climate undertones and tannin complexity yet softness give it elegance and energy at the same time.
Cellaring: 5 - 10 years plus 
Food Pairing: Beef teriyaki, spicy tagines, peppered steak or a roast.

2016 Kalleske Moppa Shiraz

90% Shiraz
7% Petit Verdot
3% Viogner

Meiron’s Review

A magnificent, rich, expressive and intense fruit forward Shiraz from Greenock, Barossa Valley.  The nose presents a lively expression of dark fruits, cinnamon, prunes, liquorice and black pepper.  The palate is smooth and velvety with dark berries, ripe plums, spice, dark chocolate and mocha.
A long lingering finish with beautifully integrated tannins and full mouth feel.
Highly recommended and great value at the price.

Colour: Deep purple - black
NoseBlueberry, musk, milk chocolate, cinnamon spice and potpourri
Palate: Rich, smooth and full bodied bursting with red and black fruits. Well-integrated fine tannins, subtle oak and intense opulent rich flavours.
Cellaring: 5 - 10 years plus 
Food Pairing: Pepper steak, beef stew, brisket, strong hard cheeses and dark chocolate.

What a wonderful expression of Cabernet from Langhorne Creek. The nose presents a lively expression of ripe plum, cinnamon and black pepper. Dark berries, bitter chocolate, liquorice, sage, burnt wood, plum and integrated tannins offer an exceptional palette. Highly recommended and great value at the price.

MOSS WOOD RIBBON VALE 2014 CABERNET SAUVIGNON

93% Cabernet Sauvignon
5% Cabernet Franc
2% Merlot

Moss Wood’s Keith and Clare Mugford acquired Ribbon Vale in 2000 and have dedicated many years of meticulous nurturing to ensure that these 40-year-old vines produce the finest quality fruit. Their patience paid off and the first vintage, the Moss Wood Ribbon Vale 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon was exceptionally well received.
They have now released their second vintage the Moss Wood Ribbon Vale 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon.

Colour: Youthful, brick red.
Nose: The wine presents an elegant nose with lovely subtle fruit characteristics, blackcurrant, mulberry, tar and delicate spice nuances.
Palate: On the palate strong tannins, sour berries, mustiness and oak.
A wonderful interplay of fruit and tannin embody the wine’s distinctive personality softening over time to a delicate expression of this delightful union.
Cellaring: Patient cellaring will be rewarded. 10 years plus would be optimal.
Food Pairing: Pairs well with beef, lamb, steaks, roast, cheddar, parmesan, mushrooms and dark chocolate.
